The phenomenon of Egyptian migration is a complicated, overlapping and extensive process. The number of Egyptian migrants has gradually increased since the mid 1970s up till now, as they are estimated at about 5 million permanent and temporary migrants. As a result of Egyptian migration flows, the emigration phenomenon has become an important feature of the Egyptian economic and social system, in addition to strengthening the ties with many countries in the region. In view of the important role performed by Egyptian expatriates in fostering the Egyptian economy and prompting the process of economic, technological and industrial development, the Emigration Sector of the Ministry of Manpower and Emigration, in the framework of its mandate, is very keen on maintaining its ties with Egyptian migrants and providing them with the facilitations necessary to contribute to the comprehensive development strategy, in addition to supporting their potentials inside and outside Egypt.
